Traffic Matters
A ticket isn't just a fine — points, insurance hikes, and license suspensions add up fast. We handle traffic matters efficiently so they don't turn into bigger problems.
What we handle

Courts we appear in
Garbett Law Office appears regularly in town, village, and city courts across Rockland, Orange, and Westchester counties — including Clarkstown, Ramapo, Nyack, Suffern, Montebello, Stony Point, Haverstraw, the Village of Haverstraw, the Village of West Haverstraw, the Village of Sloatsburg, Airmont, the Town of Tuxedo, the Town of Orange, Goshen, Monroe, Wallkill, Woodbury, Tarrytown, Greenburgh, and White Plains.
Local knowledge matters in traffic court. Every court has its own calendar, its own prosecutors, and its own practices — and we know them because we are in these courtrooms every week.
What happens at your first appearance
At the first appearance, the charge is formally addressed and the court sets the path of the case. What happens there — and what you say — can affect the points on your license, your insurance rates, and the final outcome.
Having an attorney at that first appearance is important. The goal is to avoid points on your driver's license entirely, or to limit them as much as possible — and to limit the insurance consequences that follow a conviction. Points add up quickly under New York's DMV system, and too many can mean a suspension.
We go to court so you don't have to
For traffic matters that are not criminal in nature, our office can handle the entire matter for you. In most cases, the attorney goes to court on your behalf — so you do not have to miss work or school.
We negotiate a disposition with the prosecutor and resolve the matter in the best possible way: fewer points, reduced charges, or dismissal where the facts allow. You send us the ticket, and we take it from there.
